Dig houses in Egypt.
Dig houses are inextricably connected to the life of an Egyptologist during excavation season. Although they can be found all over the world, their presence is especially dominant in Egypt, the cradle of civilisation.
In a one-hour trip, this lecture will take you across Egypt to show you some of the highlights, while most of our presentation will concentrate on Luxor, where we will also take a tour along past and present dig houses.
Most of our time, however, we will spend at the most prominent dig house in Luxor of all times, the so-called Metropolitan House, at one time home to those great men and women who excavated on behalf of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and give you a detailed account of the house’s history.
